These would be amazing for an online ad campaign. This one in particular isn’t subtle but there are others that are absolutely eye-catching. Done classily … and it’ll be perfect.
I’ll try to give it a shot. Just need to get my hands on a DSLR that shoots video. Or any other camera with a wide aperture. I’ll post my results when I get to doing this.

Short film. Narrative. This one in particular is quite pretentious. I love it though. I bought it completely. You can deconstruct this advert and rationally argue on whether it is an effective message or not … but it wouldn’t matter anyways. This is the power of narratives and it works so well for this type of product. We’re story telling creatures, really. This just drives home the point.

This video contextualizes what exactly is going on here with the 3D billboard. First, it’s not that large. Second, it’s not that high. Third, it’s by an underground station and so it’s not by a highway. In this case it’s much more effective than I anticipated. It’s not something you see whilst driving to your destination. You walk past it. You wait at a bus stop next to it. And best yet: you interact with it.

Someone is going to make a big deal about the environmental impact of throwing away / littering all those 3D glasses after one use. Oh well.

An oldie (uploaded on to YouTube ‘08) but since I’m a 49ers fan this one is particularly amusing. One being because I hate the cowboys and it’s always great to see them mess up a play (Alex Barron v. the Redskins anyone?) and two being because this one hits close to home (Jimmy Raye v. the Seahawks, anyone?). Great narrative, resonates well with whoever watches football and has to make up excuses for bad plays (read: everyone that watches football).

Oh, is this an ad war of the PC v. Mac, Verizon v. AT&T, Audi v. BMW variety? Interesting that the Kindle cheerleader is such a, well, queen bee. But who am I kidding? I secretly love that. I wonder if the rest of the audience will?

Looks like AdFreak had the same idea I did too.

Hilarious ESPN commercial that not only touts its upcoming coverage of College Football but I’m sure raises the profile (at least awareness?) of Ole Miss. I wonder what the conversation was like with Ole Miss’ PR department when this idea was pitched to them. In any case it’s funny, lighthearted, and does well in tapping into a variety of different social themes. Do I smell a narrative? Ah but it’s one that mixes reality with a manufactured and positive spin. Hello Mr. Effectiveness!
